Qatar Precision Health Institute (QPHI), a prominent member of Qatar Foundation, has successfully concluded its Genome Heroes Stations tour across Ministry schools for the 2024/2025 academic year. In a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE), the initiative impacted 9,506 students across 38 schools, showcasing two years of dedicated work in introducing genomics education to primary school students. Central to this educational endeavor was the utilization of QPHI’s innovative educational game, Genome Heroes, designed to make genomics engaging and accessible for young learners. Available in both English and Arabic on popular platforms like Apple Store and Google Play, Genome Heroes simplifies complex genetic concepts, aiming to raise awareness and foster a basic understanding of genomics through interactive and enjoyable learning experiences.
Through hands-on workshops and educational games, QPHI, in collaboration with Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education, is nurturing the next generation of scientists by introducing genome science to primary school students. The recent Genome Heroes tour saw enthusiastic participation from students at Qatar Academy Sidra and Academyati, setting the stage for a deeper understanding of genomics among young minds. The Institute’s commitment to aligning with Qatar National Vision 2030 underscores its dedication to expanding genomics education nationwide and cultivating a future generation of scientists and researchers. In addition to its focus on K-12 students, QPHI is actively building capacity among healthcare professionals through seminars, workshops, and the cutting-edge Tanawwo platform.
