One significant challenge highlighted by Sim is the lack of a data strategy to support AI initiatives. Without a solid data strategy in place, the outcomes of AI implementations may be compromised due to poor data quality.
The AI innovation hub aims to help organizations overcome challenges by providing expertise and a platform for validating use cases, creating prototypes, and conducting proof-of-concepts. The hub’s team has already developed approximately 50 AI engineering solution prototypes and carried out over 100 POCs, workshops, and demonstrations for enterprises in the region. Real-world applications have emerged from these collaborations, such as enhancing critical infrastructure resilience in the energy sector and improving AI development in the telecommunications industry.
In addition to addressing technical challenges, Dell’s AI hub also focuses on tackling the region’s tech skills gap. Recognizing the scarcity of local AI talent in Singapore, Dell has partnered with 10 local institutes of higher learning to incorporate AI skills into their curricula. The goal is to train around 10,000 students and mid-career professionals in areas like AI engineering, MLOps, and cloud-native architecture by 2025.
Dell’s commitment to AI leadership is demonstrated through its involvement in Singapore’s technology governance initiatives. The company is a founding member of the AI Verify Foundation, which advocates for responsible AI practices, and participates in shaping national IT standards through the IT Standards Committee. This aligns with Singapore’s national AI strategy, which aims to empower individuals and industries to leverage AI with confidence and trust.
