4AG Robotics, a trailblazer in fully autonomous mushroom harvesting, has successfully closed a $40 million CAD Series B financing round, led by Astanor and Cibus Capital, with participation from new investor Voyager Capital and existing supporters InBC, Emmertech, BDC Industrial Innovation Fund, Jim Richardson Family Office, Stray Dog Capital, and Seraph Group. This recent funding round, following a $17.5 million raise in 2023, brings the total capital raised by 4AG Robotics to $57.5 million over the past two years.
The substantial investment will enable 4AG Robotics to meet the growing global demand for its robotic harvesting platform, which is already operational in Canada, Ireland, and Australia, with upcoming deployments planned in the Netherlands and the United States. By leveraging AI-powered computer vision, precision suction grippers, and advanced motion control, 4AG’s innovative system autonomously harvests, trims, and packs mushrooms around the clock, eliminating the need for manual labor.
The robots are designed to seamlessly integrate into existing Dutch-rack infrastructure, providing growers with consistent quality, reduced labor costs, and real-time operational insights.
Chris Payne, the COO of 4AG Robotics, emphasizes the company’s practical approach to robotics, highlighting their ability to navigate the complexities of real farm environments and deliver successful automation solutions. With a focus on mushrooms as a prime candidate for robotic advancements, 4AG aims not only to lead the industry but also to enhance yields and efficiency through AI and robotics innovation.
Partnering with Cibus Capital, a prominent agri-food tech investor based in the UK, 4AG Robotics is poised to expand its presence in Europe and beyond. Archie Burgess, Investment Director at Cibus Capital, underscores the immense potential of utilizing robotics and AI in mushroom farming to optimize labor, increase yields, and enhance quality. With a fleet of robots already capable of picking up to 1 million mushrooms per week, 4AG Robotics is set to revolutionize the agricultural landscape with its cutting-edge technology.
