A recent report by the International Finance Forum (IFF) has shed light on the significant role that Hong Kong plays as a ‘superconnector’ in the global artificial intelligence (AI) talent landscape. With more than half of the world’s AI talent hailing from the US and China, Hong Kong’s strategic location as a bridge between mainland China and the rest of the world has positioned it as a prime hub for fostering collaboration and innovation in the AI sector.

King Lun Au, executive director of the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council, emphasized the importance of Hong Kong’s unique status in facilitating the exchange of AI expertise between the two powerhouse nations. By partnering with IFF on the report, Hong Kong has solidified its reputation as a key player in the global AI ecosystem. The report also highlighted the pivotal role of Tsinghua University and Peking University in producing top-tier AI talent, further underscoring the influence of Chinese institutions in shaping the future of AI innovation.
