Former Nasarawa State Governor and APC stalwart, Tanko Al-Makura, publicly announced his support for the newly appointed National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda. In a recent open letter, Al-Makura praised the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) and President Bola Tinubu for endorsing the new leadership, citing it as a testament to the party’s political maturity and ability to self-correct internally.
He lauded the decision as a reaffirmation of the core principles that gave rise to the APC, emphasizing the importance of discipline, equity, inclusivity, and placing national interest above personal agendas. Al-Makura, a pivotal figure in the party’s formation through the merger of legacy parties in 2013, underscored the significance of this leadership transition in fostering internal cohesion and rebuilding public trust. He urged party members to embrace the change as a positive step towards democratic consolidation, rather than interpreting it as a sign of instability. Al-Makura emphasized the paramount need for peace, unity, and solidarity within the party, prioritizing these values over individual aspirations.
