AmphiStar & Kensing Partner for Upcycled Biosurfactants in NA Personal Care

AmphiStar and Kensing have teamed up to introduce upcycled biosurfactants to the North American personal care market. This strategic partnership combines AmphiStar’s innovative upcycled biosurfactant technology with Kensing’s industrial scale and market presence, ushering in a new era of high-performance biosurfactants. These biosurfactants, derived from upcycled biowaste, offer formulation versatility and competitive economics at scale while eliminating traditional feedstock constraints. AmphiStar’s breakthrough technology integrates advanced synthetic biology, waste processing, and continuous biomanufacturing principles, reducing reliance on fossil feedstocks and resource-intensive crops for a more sustainable profile.Furthermore, a recent life cycle assessment study conducted in March 2025 demonstrated the exceptional sustainability credentials of AmphiStar’s biosurfactants. Compared to chemical-based and existing biosurfactants, AmphiStar’s products showed a four-fold decrease in CO2 equivalent emissions, an 18-fold reduction in water deprivation impact, a 5.5-fold improvement in human health impact, and a 15-fold decrease in overall environmental impact. This partnership not only marks a leap forward in biosurfactant technology but also highlights the potential for significant environmental benefits and market disruption in the North American personal care industry. With AmphiStar and Kensing at the forefront of innovation, the future looks promising for sustainable and high-performance biosurfactants in the region.
