Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) in the quest for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) treatments. The team, led by Ray and his colleagues, leveraged a surrogate model of ALS progression to analyze over 20,000 Electronic Health Records (EHRs) from veterans. With seed funding from the ALS CURE Project and support from the Department of Defense, they identified key risk factors for ALS and are advancing further research.
